Silk from ancient was a common fabric in Iranian dress. Fine silk, shot silk and silk were of fabric types which were woven and prepared in cities such as Susa, Shushtar and Jundishapur and were among the commercial goods which give identity to many centers of international exchange like Sarif port or waterway Silk and Silk Road. Silversmithing can be traced back to Silk and Arsiman. Silver, which culturally speaking is considered to be a noble metal, became commercially attention gaining to craftsmen. Diverse approaches in this industry generated different styles and methods; for example, silversmiths from Tabriz would use hand pressure to create various designs on silver, while in Isfahann they would do the same by the usage of a pen or hammer blow.
